Hans-Werner KaasHans-Werner Kaas is a Senior Partner in the Detroit Office of McKinsey & Company. He joined McKinsey & Company in 1991 as a Business Analyst in the Duesseldorf office.  He is the co-leader of the global Advanced Industries practice. Before transferring to the Detroit Office, Hans-Werner also worked in the Vienna, Frankfurt, and the Cleveland Offices of McKinsey & Company.

During his career at McKinsey, Hans-Werner has played a key role in opening McKinsey’s Detroit office in 1998 and building its Americas Automotive & Assembly, and Advanced Industries Practice, which serves many of the leading global players in the automotive, the electronics, aerospace & defense, and machinery industries.  His client service focuses on growth strategies and strategies under uncertainty, broader performance transformation programs, and organizational redesign incl performance management systems. He has been serving clients in the automotive value chain (OEMs, suppliers, distribution/retail, and investors) extensively over the last 25 years, as well as clients in the consumer goods, machinery, and electronics industries globally.

He has co-lead major McKinsey research efforts on the future of the automotive and emerging mobility industries, including connected vehicles and the connected consumer, new data-/analytics enabled service opportunities, and the broader societal impact of the shaping forces in the auto and mobility industry. His recent client service with leading auto players is focusing on these disruptive forces and related challenges and growth opportunities in the rapidly emerging mobility industry, with its diverse service formats and offerings.
